Known for its great fishing spots and even deep-sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, at the Grand Isle State Park you can camp or just spend the day picnicking. This tiny sea-side town hosts the Cajun Rodeo, which draws 15 times its normal population annually. Besides fishing, Grand Isle is also known for its birding trails which consists of nearly 60 acres of marsh and Chenier forest habitat and the hosting of The Grand Isle Migratory Bird Festival – an annual three-day event.

Captain Danny took me out for a great day of kayak fishing for reds (January). He is the pioneer of this kind of fishing in Grand Isle and knows exactly what to do! I booked Capt. John for a speck/red trip for my son and I the last week of May. Oh man the fishing was tough that week on Grand Isle! The weather has stirred everything up and everyone was working hard for every fish. To say Capt. John saved our trip is understating it. Capt. John put us on some fish! Very patient with my son who was fishing saltwater for his first time. Also an outstanding communicator, keeping us informed with the how, what, where, and why's during the trip. We went for an overnight Tuna trip and it was a blast. Everyone had plenty hook ups and tuna landed throughout the night. On the way in from the tuna fishing the fun had just started back once the sun was up, we hit some mahi mahi fishing but might as well call it mahi mahi catching because that’s how it seemed. We caught fish after fish. Lastly, we dropped some lines for snapper and grouper while continuing our journey back into the dock.
