    Carter Blueberry Farm image
We actually went on the next to last day that blueberry picking was available for the season. There were still plenty of berries to pick. We ended up with 7 pounds of yummy berries. There is a cooling station in the middle of the farm if it is an unbearably hot day. We happened to be there in the pouring rain. That made it even more fun. We were soaked through and through. The blueberries were sweet and plump. Fun day! See more..

Came up from North Myrtle Beach to hike the trail. We were NOT disappointed. Did Not walk the entire trail but the section we did walk was very nice. Nice wide paved trail. Were impressed with how clean the area was. Started from the north end of the trail. Yes, you do not see the river in long stretches of the hike but the woods and wildlife was enjoyable. Very peaceful. A real gem in the middle of Fayetteville. See more..
  13. 4.5 1897 Poe House (108 reviews)
    - Wrong Poe, but still a great visit
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Historic Sites
    1897 Poe House image
The 1897 Poe House is so named because it was built in the year 1897 and it was the home of the Poe family. The deed of the house is in the name of Josephine Montague Poe, originally from Wake County, who married Edgar Allan Poe in 1880. Edgar Allan Poe was born in Fayetteville and, although has the same name as the famous writer, our Mr. Poe was a local businessman, (born after the writer Poe died). Learn about life in the first decades of the twentieth century and the changes that defined this era by touring the home of an affluent Fayetteville businessman and his family. Tours highlight women's roles, African American history, children's roles, and technological, economic, and social changes in southern North Carolina and the country during this era. The 1897 Poe House grounds are available to rent for special events. See more..
  14. 4.5 Gillis Hill Farm (78 reviews)
    - Ice Cream Shop amid bygone rural flair & flavor!
Temporarily closed - Closed until Apr 1, 2023 Spent 1-2 hours Farms
    Gillis Hill Farm image
Truly a jewel of a place out in the country! Ice cream shop is in an approx 100 yr old house complete w/ artifacts used in the 1800's and a sitting porch for relaxing w/ a delicious ice cream. Afterwards, there's a petting area of goats, pigs & horses in a country setting that's much the same it was originally in the early 1900's or earlier. It's like walking thru a very large farm area. Also there were outdoor picnic tables enough for a small gathering on the edge of a pond. Simply an old-fashioned country life experience not usually found in today's modern world. Thank You Gillis Farm for being as you are! See more..
  15. 4.5 The Climbing Place (25 reviews)
    - Climb on!
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Sports Complexes
    The Climbing Place image
I have visited climbing gyms all over the country and The Climbing Place in Fayetteville is outstanding! Most of the staff is nice and helpful. There was one, typical to these types of business, employee who walks around with a chip on her shoulder because she can perform a few acrobatic and climbing tricks. Personally, I was not impressed and would be happy to invite the "princess" to enjoy a "three-day" climbing and "bivi" up the nose route of El Cap! While she seemed to be annoyed by the numerous kids enjoying the gym, someone should remind her it is most likely the parents of those kids who foot the bill to keep the lights on at the gym. In summary, The Climbing Place is an excellent gym good for advanced climbers, beginners, or any other person seeking an alternate to their normal workout routine See more..

    Segra Stadium image
Segra Field is a nice ballpark to catch a game and what a game it was. There were 11 runs scored in a back and forth battle in which the Woodpeckers won 6-5. We saw an awesome display of fireworks both on the field and in the air. Prices are very reasonable, whether it was for the tickets, the food and drinks or souvenirs. Definitely a great place to catch a game. Hope to see you soon! See more..

    Market House image
It was a meat market, but they did sell slaves there. As an African American woman, I do not feel that it should be torn down but kept as a reminder of how far this country has come. Tearing down a building doesn't change past events. See more..

Clark Park is a great little nature park in Fayetteville. There is a nature center and several short unpaved trails as well as parking for the Cape Fear River Trail, a 5-mile greenway trail. There is even a small waterfall right behind the Nature Center. It's on a very small creek so best to visit the waterfall after a heavy rain. We stopped for a short hike to see the waterfall and then a longer hike on Cape Fear River Trail. See more..
