    - Andrea Bocelli Concert

    Gwinnett Center image
We (my wife and I) have been here many times. This concert was the best. I purchased two VIP tickets. Dinner and parking was included. The dinner was selected personally by the artist. It included salad, the main course, dessert and wine. The wine was a red sangiovese and a white Pinot Grigio from the Bocelli Vineyard. The winery is run by the artist and his brother and has been in his family for over 150 years. The main course was Veal Oscar and it was delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised. Dessert was a parfait and it was decadent. There were Belgian chocolates at each place setting to take with you when you left to go to your seats. The concert itself was fabulous with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and a University of Georgia Chorus backing up the Artist. The sound system for this event was notably improved. The clarity of the sound on the floor level was outstanding. See more..

In operation since 1970, the Southeastern Railway Museum features about 90 items of rolling stock including historic Pullman cars and classic steam locomotives. Museum hours vary seasonally. Take a short ride in restored cabooses behind restored antique diesel locomotives, stand next to the massive driving wheels of the locomotive that once pulled passenger trains to Key West on the “railroad that went to sea,” tour the business car that helped bring the Olympics to Atlanta, pose in the private car once used by President Warren G. Harding, and step inside a dining car used by FDR on one of his many trips to Warm Springs, GA. The mission of the Southeastern Railway Museum is to provide an educational atmosphere that will vividly bring to life the cultural, technological and historical importance of transportation to our region. 8. 4.5 McDaniel Farm Park (58 reviews)
    - Nice Park with a Trail and Other Amenities
    Spent 1-2 hours Parks
    McDaniel Farm Park image
We spent about two hours at the park. There is a trail about three miles long and while parts of it can be steep, most of it is shaded, which is nice in the summer. The park itself has a playground that is farm-themed. There is also two dogs parks; they are located next to each other, but one is for small dogs and the other is for big dogs. On the day that we were there, there was a film crew there and we got to see how they use the farmhouse and older buildings as a backdrop for their historical film. If you are meeting someone at the park, be sure to note that there are two separate entrances. There is plenty of paved parking. Restrooms were surprisingly clean. See more..

  12. 4.5 Atlanta IceForum (4 reviews)
    - Something to do on a rainy day!
    Thursday: 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Sports Complexes
Over Christmas holidays, we went to the Atlanta IceForum open skating for two hours and had so much fun. I haven't been ice skating in 20 years and it was a blast. All the kids with us ages 12, 13, and 16 had fun and picked up on the ice skating quickly. There were kids and adults of all ages there and I felt it was reasonably priced at $11 including your skate rental. And, it was good exercise. Be there at the beginning of the time slot because they clean/scrap the ice between each session. Towards the end, the ice can be more groved. There is no charge for adults that are supervising children if they are not skating. See more..
  13. 4.5 Eye Candy Art Studio (3 reviews)
    - Great mom-daughter night!
Spent 1-2 hours Paint & Pottery Studios
    Eye Candy Art Studio image
I surprised my daughter with a visit to Eye Candy to select a piece of pottery to paint. The two employees were absolutely fantastic! We were welcomed as soon as walked in and the whole process was explained. It was such a fun experience! Hopefully we will be back - we have to go back at least once to pick up our pottery piece. The only negative is that I did not realize we would need to come back in a week to pick up the finished piece after it is fired. We don't live close, so that may be a bit tricky. Other than that, great evening! See more..

  16. 4.0 Gas South Arena (182 reviews)
    - Great Experience!
Spent 2-3 hours Arenas & Stadiums
    Gas South Arena image
Went here to see the Gymnastics Gold Over America Tour. Upon arrival of course there was a long line of vehicles trying to get in, we expected that. No worries at all, they had people out directing traffic. Went very smooth. At the entrance there was tons of lines and we just walked up and was in a snap of a finger. We found our seats with no problem. We had great seats. We could see things very clearly from the 2nd row on the bleachers. I think any seat would be a good seat at this venue. We really enjoyed the show. The bathroom line wasn't that bad either considering it was basically an all girls event. I would go to another event here! See more..

    Pirate's Cove image
This is an ideal place to take the family for some fun together time - interesting theme and reasonably priced. Go later in the day or early evening when the Atlanta heat subsides. This is fun and interesting putt putt, mini golf, whatever you want to call it - great changes in elevation as the course meanders around and up - with an interesting pirate history fact at each hole. Recommend doing 27 holes instead of 18 for a little more. See more..

  21. 4.0 Shorty Howell Park (1 review)
    - We Loved The Ducks
    Spent 1-2 hours Parks
    Shorty Howell Park image
My wife and I recently visited Shorty Howell Park for the first time. Located at 2750 Pleasant Hill Road this urban community park covers 67 acres. Great place just to go and spend an afternoon. We had a picnic and then spent over an hour walking on the 1.25 mile multi-purpose paved trail. The trail winds around a lake and through the woods that border the park. Saw lots of folks walking with their dogs (must be on a leash). We spent 30 minutes just relaxing by the lake watching the ducks and the geese (not allowed to feed them). We observed lots of moms with their kids having fun at the multiple playground areas. Overall we really enjoyed our time spent here. Park amenities include: 1-Large Community activity building that can be used for classes or events 2-Football/multi-purpose field with lighted walking track 3-Seven lighted youth baseball/softball fields with multiple playgrounds, restrooms, picnic tables, water fountains, and concession stand 4-Multiple batting cages 5-Pavilion with picnics tables, grill, and water fountain. Kids playground and restroom close by 6-1.25 mile multi-purpose paved trail (dog friendly must be on a leash) 7-Park benches strategically placed along the trail 8-Individual picnic tables in shaded areas throughout the park This park is safe, very clean and well maintained. - Different
    Movie Theaters
    Studio Movie Grill (Duluth) image
We went out of town and this Movie Theatre was near our hotel. We went to see a movie not realizing what type of theatre it was. It is an experience if you haven't done it before definitely should try it. I would prefer to be able to buy my own popcorn before the movie; other than that it was an overall good experience. The layout of the lobby is a tight squeeze, to the right are the tickets self service or purchase from an attendant to the left is the bar and open area. See more..

  26. 3.5 The Children's Arts Museum (3 reviews)
    - Fun summer camp for young artists
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Art Museums
I used to go to their summer camp and it really exposed me to all the art there is such as clay making, pottery, painting, acting, and if really shaped the artist that I am to this day. There used to be this electric harp for people to play when they come in. It's definitely a good place to walk around for checking out intro to art and spending half a day with the kids. But it's the art classes and workshops that I think are totally worth taking kids to See more..

This was the place to shop 20 years ago. Since the Sugarloaf Mills opened up few miles down the road and and Mall of Georgia opened up about 10 miles away. The anchor store have left and the mall is in decline. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not dead, but it has lost it’s greatness. See more..
