My husband and I truly enjoyed the 6.5 mile (long) trip down the Cuyahoga River. We rented 2 single kayaks which were quite comfortable and had nice paddles. The bus trip to the drop off point was one of the nicest we've ever experienced for a canoe/kayak trip - usually it's a rickety old school bus but Burning River Adventures had a nice, comfortable bus which made the beginning of the trip quite enjoyable! The guide helped to unload the kayaks and helped us get them launched into the water. The river was absolutely gorgeous! There were 2 fun rapid areas spaced through the trip, and the river was quite clean! They'd recently had a decent amount of rain so the river was running fairly quick which made it a lot of fun. The take-out point was smooth, with a guide to help catch the kayak and get you onto a ramp to get out. It was one of the best kayaking experiences either of us has had ! See more..

High Bridge Glens is a 5-10 minute stop for a picturesque view of the Cuyahoga River (and falls). It's off of Front Street, across from Prospect Avenue. It doesn't look like much, we almost kept going, but I decided to take a walk to what looked like a bridge and was so glad that I did! Very beautiful view! We spent the day driving 15-20 minutes between parks, etc. between Akron and Cleveland. We found out later from my brother, whose wife was from Akron, that there was another beautiful area close by that we will need to see on our next trip. See more..

It’s in a cool location right next to a nice view of the river. There is free public parking just past the brewery on the river side of the road. It’s a cool space and they offer both beer and food. We did a flight of 4 for 12.00 and all 4 were excellent. We did the tangerine wheat, berry sour, mostly cloudy hazy and the heffe. It was a great flight. This is a small, family oriented water park in Cuyahoga Falls. Upon arrival we discovered everyone must have their drivers license or government issued I’d scanned to help protect the children from potential danger. We were impressed with this. We went on a Thursday and my grandkids only had a short wait on the water slides. The water was clear and a comfortable temperature. The lazy river was fun as well. We rented a cabana to ensure a shady area but we will skip this in the future as they have huge umbrellas and plenty of lounge chairs. You can bring in your own food and drink or buy from the concession stand. Our only complaint with the concession stand was that many items on the menu were out of stock and it wasn’t crowded the day we went. See more..

Park at the Wetmore Trailhead. The trailhead is across the street to the left as you exit the parking lot. You can also access it from the Langes Trail and make it a loop. It is 0.6 miles out from the Butler trailhead and about 1.7 mile loop if you catch the Langes Run portion. It is mostly wooded and not difficult but slightly hilly. In this winter season it was not very busy. It is also a bridle trail but I did not see any horses on it midweek. There is a bathroom at the Wetmore trailhead and plenty of parking. This is considered part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. See more..

Stopped into the Silver Swan, and its the most low-key place, with the lowest prices for lunch imaginable. Had a hand-made 1/4 -lb. burger with swiss cheese, mushrooms and onions, added fries, and it was less than the one can of beer I ordered!! The barkeep was attentive, though a bit reserved. Another nice spot in C Falls. We parked on the street and walked over. Parking is 1.00 an hour. If Saturday you can park in the bank parking lot. Flight is 12.00 for 5 4 oz pours. We really like the dragons juice box, the inverted pineapple, and the fog hazy ipa. We really need to go back to all these great breweries to try the food. See more..

This is .2 miles past the Szalays Sweet Corn Farm. Very congested area! The parking lot for Hunt House is on the left side of the road. Walk across to see the house. Be very careful - cars & bikes are everywhere! The tow path runs along side it & people access it from the parking lot. Hunt House is a very small house with a barn & outhouse. The house was open on the Friday afternoon we visited. There were no volunteers or rangers staffing it. Small display area with some kid activities. A goofy looking stuffed coyote & beaver. There's lots of information & some free posters. The bathrooms are located in the barn. Worth a look, but I wouldn't go out of my way if you're short on time. See more..
