We have stopped here for years. The staff is always friendly. We buy cider, apples, and squash. It is a ritual for us to stop and pick strawberries at their farm every spring. They have fresh doughnuts every day and pies. A few years ago they began to sell Christmas trees. We have purchased great firs there every year they have sold trees. It's a fun place to stop with kids. There is a wonderful playground to enjoy. See more..

    Cooking Classes
Loretta Paganini School of Cooking image
If you love food and cooking, then this International School outside of Cleveland, OH is a must attend. While they offer professional cooking degrees in Pastry and Savory, there recreational cooking classes really are outstanding. Loretta herself teaches most of them. She is a first rate chef, great instructor, and a down right charming, gracious and fun to be around. She is from Bologna Italy, hence you get some great Northern Italian recipes. The facility is state of the art, has four large kitchens, great equipment along with a host of other very talented chefs that teach everything from Sushi 101 to Gluten free foods. Like to cook, then make time to attend this gem of a place. See more..
  3. 4.5 Orchard Hills Park (18 reviews)
    - The old golf course is almost erased
Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Hiking Trails
    Orchard Hills Park image
I went for a hike at Orchard Hills Park on a Sunny Tuesday afternoon at the end of September. I learned to golf here many years ago, so it was surreal to see it now. It is at least 5 years into its transition to a natural meadow. There are some areas I still recognize as particular holes, but in most areas the course is erased. The park has some rolling hills and is a pretty easy walk. The fall wildflowers were in full bloom and this place will look even better when the leaves change later in the fall. There were very few people here and you can get a great walk in. Mine was about 2 miles by sticking mostly to the perimeter of the old course. There were many options to make that longer or shorter. Great little park, nice trails. There is a pond and in the spring you can hear the frogs long before you see the pond. See more..
  5. 4.5 Eddy Fruit Farm (3 reviews)
    - Farmer's Market at Working Apple Farm
    Farmers Markets
    Eddy Fruit Farm image
Eddy Fruit Farm is about a mile or so south of the better-known Patterson's Fruit Farm along Caves Road in Chesterland. Eddy is primarily a working apple farm with a market that sells its own apples (of course) as well as all kinds of locally sourced products, including locally grown fruits and vegetables, eggs, honey, flour, and other food products. What they have in stock is pretty much what is being harvested at the time. If they have the "rainbow" eggs in stock they are particularly cool - I've posted a picture so you can see. If you are looking for locally grown and produced food, this is a good choice. You can also pick your own apples from their trees if you prefer, as we saw several families do. This isn't a fancy place - it's a market at a working apple farm, but you'll have little doubt about what you are eating or where it came from. See more..
  6. 4.5 Patterson Fruit Farm (3 reviews)
    - Crisp and delicious!
    Farms

September 2nd visit with Grandsons to pick apples! We found Ginger Gold and Honey Crisp, sooooo delicious, very fun! Be sure to go at 9am, call ahead to be sure of what they have to pick. It gets crowded fast, but really fun to go with kids. There's plenty of parking and looks like many other activities throughout the year. Also check out The Patterson Family Store, different location, for yummy, huge Apple Fritters and Cider! See more..
  7. 4.0 Fowler's Mill Golf Course (26 reviews)
    - Fabulous Fairways in a beautiful rural setting
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Golf Courses
    Fowler's Mill Golf Course image
You must include a round of golf at Fowlers Mill on your annual to-do list. Often booked for outings and corporate events, be persistent and book a tee-time. During the week is much easier to score a tee time and a good excuse for a "mid-week cold". A tranquil but challenging course. The course plays long and can be made longer if the groupings are a bit stacked. We had the "good fortune" to play just after the course re-opened following some heavy rain, the crowd was light and the weather was mild. Good drainage in most areas. The former TRW Country Club was designed by Pete Dye with the usual rolling hills and obstinate trees and hazards for an added challenge as well as shift changing greens. Beginners will be challenged. A great course to add into the rotation or special trek to NE Ohio. Enjoy the course afterwards too, a decent club house and plenty of outdoor seating too. See more..
  8. 4.0 Bessie Benner Metzenbaum Park (8 reviews)
    - Great early fall walk
Sunday: 6:00 AM - 11:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Parks
    Bessie Benner Metzenbaum Park image
I went to the Bessie Benner Metzenbaum Park on a nice Thursday afternoon in mid-October. There were only a few dog walkers there. The park has good but relatively short trails. The Summit trail climbs over 100 feet so you will get some exercise. I walked all the trail including the one to the learning center and ended up walking 1 ¼ miles. Great for a nice stroll…it was still a little early for the best leaf color. See more..
  9. 3.5 Alpine Valley (17 reviews)
    - Winter fun
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Ski & Snowboard Areas

Always have fun tubing here with friends. It's a little expensive. Wish they had a warm shelter by the tubing so parents can keep warm and still see the kiddos. See more..
  10. 3.5 The Rookery (7 reviews)
    - Nice park for a stroll if you are in the area (great for strollers)
    Spent 1-2 hours Parks
    The Rookery image
I went to the Rookery Park to walk on a sunny Tuesday afternoon in late September. This is a nice park for a walk, mostly flat with good trails. There was nobody else at the park. The trails are either paved or crushed stone. The woodcock trail is fairly short with an asphalt surface. The Interurban trail is longer, but you must come back the same way you went…I prefer loops. There are some ponds and varied habitat throughout the park. I walked both trails for a total of 2.7 miles. There are some better parks in the area for walking. The main feature of this park is the great blue heron rookery. There are certain times of the year you can sign up to go on guided hikes to see the huge nests. Something you need to do once, even if you are not that into birds…it is an impressive sight, although I have not seen them in about 20 years. See more..
