Cheraw State Park Golf Course image
We stayed in a cabin in Cheraw state park in S.C. Played golf twice at the park golf course. The pro shop was well stocked and the pro on duty was very friendly and helpful. He explained the course layout and told us about the clubhouse and all of the facilities that we had available to us. Course maintenance crew was very friendly and respectful of the golfer’s on the course. The course was outstanding well kept and not a bare spot on the course. When you rent a cabin at the park green fees with cart only $25.00 !! Super deal!!! The cabins are newly remodeled and are very nice. Quiet place, they have large lake with fishing, canoeing paddle boats also trails and swimming. Downtown was nice very small have some small local shops. The manager Park Ranger Mahoney was very friendly and helpful spoke with him a few times. 4 day stay was the right amount of time for the stay and play golf and explore. See more..

Laney Landing at Riverside Park image
This park has been here for many years and has a large parking lot , so you can always find a spot . There is a covered area with picnic tables and a large brick grill . You could do small gatherings such as birthday parties or such here . There is a small boat landing if you want to go fishing in the Great Pee Dee River . There are also several benches where you can lookout at the river and look for birds and watch the water go by . There is also a cool bridge which I assume goes to a walking trail . I haven't been here for years , so when I visited Cheraw in September , I came by to check it out . I use to come here with some girls I dated back in the 80's when I was in high school in Bennettsville and dated some Cheraw and Chesterfield girls . I now live in Las Vegas , Nevada and get back to the Carolinas about every 5 years . There is also a historical marker which is hard to read now , but I found a website with what it says . See more..
