   The Center for Animal Research and Education is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to education, research, rescue, and long-term care for exotic animals. Located on 20 acres in Bridgeport, TX, CARE currently provides a permanent home to over 40 animals including mountain lions, African lions, tigers, black and spotted leopards, bobcats, ring-tail lemurs, llamas, and a coati. The animals of CARE come from a wide variety of places. Some of the animals were abused, abandoned, or bred to be exotic pets before they came to the facility. Others were retired from shows and traveling, sent from other facilities that needed help, or were simply unwanted by private collectors.    Took the kids on a Sunday. The trails are well marked. We did the intermediate Dark blue trail and returned on the light blue trail to starting point. It took us about 2 hours. My four year old loved it. She didn’t complain. The city has done a fabulous job on building this attraction. See more..

   Great little art gallery with a big variety of art - styles, materials, etc. We really enjoying checking out the interesting pieces. Seems like there are pieces (and prices) across the spectrum of taste and affordability. It was a fun time. Bridgeport is a sweet little town with an interesting Main Street (Halsell) with other shops, eateries, etc. Worth a visit! See more..
