   We had a group of four with us, and we usually go hiking during the fall to see the leaves change color, but we wanted to see if there's a different way to experience fall. Since our bikes left around 9:30 AM, it was definitely too windy and cold to properly take in the experience and the view, but on our way back, after the sun had came up and the wind calmed down a bit, it seemed to be worth every penny. The staff was friendly, answered all of our questions, and even helped us out. We will definitely be going back, but maybe earlier in the fall when it's not so cold! See more..

   We came down from Minneapolis for the inaugural, two day World of Outlaws weekend. This was our first visit to this particular track. Adjacent to US 30, it is easy to locate, and parking is equally easy to find (dirt and gravel field area). It was also very easy to exit. Weekend tickets were reasonably priced ($140 for two reserved seats on the finish line two rows below the announcer's booth), and entry was quick and easy, with none of the nonsense that has taken hold of the NASCAR circuit. Viewing angles are superb-- next time out, we are going to try the catwalk overlooking turn 3; it looks like a fantastic perch. There is the usual run of racing gear on sale, and food items of the type that one normally finds at sports venues-- all reasonably priced. And lest we forget ... this is a very family oriented venue. There were a lot of children in attendance, and the very friendly staff seemed especially keen to insure that they were having a good time. Want to see some photos of the track at sunset?    This is a huge park, buried in the small town of Boone. There are playgrounds, picnic tables, baseball diamonds, a swimming pool, disc frizbee golf cages, and even some grills. There are modern toilets in a couple places. And an old log cabin. Many wildlife passed in front of us, including a deer, too quick for me to take a picture of. Very family friendly.     Excellent from start to finish. Volunteers were al helpful and pleasant. The gift shop has a nice variety of items at a fair price. Museum was informative. Hubs and I loved the dinner train ride. Service from the catering was excellent. The conductor and other volunteer we spoke to were interesting and very pleasant. The ride was relaxing. We went over a tall bridge, scenery was pretty with lots of forest rivers and deer. Upbeat jazzy music played. The food was excellent. Just the right amount. We had brisket which was very tasteful .     took my mother on this for a day out so really wasn't expecting much. It gave us an afternoon out and was somewhat interesting on the trip away from the station, but the return trip was just another ride. The story was interesting and the food was average so I really wasn't disappointed but the hostess needed to chill out a little. Glad i did it once but i think that was enough See more..
