The hike to the falls is about one mile and is mostly on an upward incline. The drive into the trailhead is 5 miles on a forestry road. It is mostly in good shape but does have some bumpy spots with mud holes. Most vehicles should be able to make it. We saw sedans and mini-vans. See more..

This camp site is gorgeous! The camp ground is clean and the staff is so kind. They brought me my wood and ice. I am an avid camper and I’ve never had any campground do this. the staff member who brought the ice, he even helped me start my fire and was so helpful to provide information on nearby activities! I rented the paddle board and the prices were so reasonable, let me tell you this camp ground is perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding! I went over my time for the rental on accident and the lady at the store was so understanding. I normally go to Vogel annually and love it but I have to say Morganton point recreation is my new go to destination for camping. 19. 4.5 Aska Trails (25 reviews)
    - 6 Trails to choose from
    Hiking Trails
    Aska Trails image
When you go to Aska trails there are 6 different trails to choose from. We went on the Long Branch Loop Trail which was 2.1 miles and marked as an “easy” hike. Close to the parking area and a loop so it would bring us back to where we started. We felt like it was maybe a little harder than “easy” if you are not an experienced hiker. Keep in mind this is NOT at a National park, they are trails forged through the woods so there are no bathrooms, water fountains or other facilities. Come prepared with your water and enjoy true nature! It’s beautiful. See pictures to view the different trails and descriptions See more..
  20. 4.5 Jacks River Falls (21 reviews)
    - Cold water and beautiful scenery
    Waterfalls
    Jacks River Falls image
My husband and I are new to the area. We hiked the Beech Bottoms/Jacks River hike from Dally Gap. We followed the trail which crossed through Jacks River but it was cold (it's January) and deepish (at least 2 ft where we crossed)! We took our socks and shoes off and did this first big pass, but we definitely realized this is an awesome *summer* hike. Right after that we were faced with the summer 2016 forrest fire damage. It was difficult to find the trail through fallen & burnt trees & brush. Regardless we found the Falls and enjoyed our hike ❤️ We couldn't make the next river crossing on the trail because it would've been a swimming event in 29 degree weather. So all in all we loved it and we can't wait to come back in summer!! See more..
  21. 4.5 Springer Mountain (11 reviews)
    - Historically worth it! The worst part is the drive up.
    Mountains
    Springer Mountain image
The Appalachian Trail, at least this stretch, is very well maintained. The hike up from Springer Mountain Parking is steep as everyone has said. Think of it as one mile up a continuous flight of stairs. Decide for yourself if you can do that. It is not technically challenging, but may tax your endurance. But it is the terminus of the AT and worth it for that reason alone! :-) There is one "privy" on the way up, but otherwise expect no "services." The drive to the parking is an adventure. The AT Conservancy tries to talk hikers into starting from the State Park 8.5 miles south instead of driving up to the parking. Our GPS tried twice to get us to just drive off into the woods off the side of a mountain. It had no idea where to go. (However, there are really no intersections, so just follow the road.) The road is barely more than one lane in places, on winding gravel/rocks. There are no guard rails and not all oncoming traffic want to share the road. See more..

  23. 4.5 Little Rock Creek Falls (6 reviews)
    - Beautiful waterfall in Suches!
    Hiking Trails
    Little Rock Creek Falls image
My husband and two 2-year olds hiked up to the falls. The trail is a little tricky to find. From hwy 60, take Rock Creek Rd. like you are going to the Fish Hatchery, there is a small bridge going over the creek in a tight hair pin curve - park at the bridge and the trail is on the left. If you get to Shady Grove Church, you’ve just missed it. The hike is fairy technical. My husband and I each carried a 20-25 lb toddler in a carrier on our backs, however, I would hesitate to do that again. The hike took us about 50 minutes round trip. It was so worth it! There were several fallen trees that you have to go under, over, or around and there are slippery rocks. I highly recommend good trail shoes. You can see the falls before you get there. You can feel the mist from the water - it’s great! It’s quite a hidden treasure! If you are nearby, it’s totally worth it. See more..

  27. 4.0 Deep Hole Recreation Area (4 reviews)
    - Remote, but Nice
Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
We stopped here for lunch on the way to Toccoa River Swinging Bridge. Picnic area was nice, but looks like it's rarely used. It was clean other than leaves that had fallen. A ride thru the campground and it looks very nice. There are no hookups, but very nice level sites. The pit toilets were exceptionally clean! There is also a very nice accessible deck where you can fish and also a ramp down to the water too. The river is stocked regularly, so it should be good fishing. The only negative is the distance from any services, but the roads are good and it's a pleasant drive getting there. See more..
