I absolutely adore the Blacksburg Farmers Market. There are a variety of vendors with locally grown produce (a wide array of fruits, veggies, and mushrooms), meats, eggs, house plants, handmade goods, art, and more. One of my favorite things about the market and that there are always vendors serving food and drinks, so its easy to get a coffee and a breakfast sandwich while doing some weekly shopping and exploring the market, and then sit down and listen to some life music. Overall, I would recommend this experience and I think its a great way to see and be a part of the community present in Blacksburg. See more..

We kept our grandsons for a week and when traveling to meet their parents to return them we stopped in Blacksburg. Having some time before the scheduled meeting, I looked up parks and playgrounds. Finding this one was great! Located in an older neighborhood, found a nice playground with picnic shelter. The boys enjoyed the playground equipment, running off some energy. I had a one night stay in Blacksburg and arrived in mid afternoon . After checking in at hotel, I found the Smithfield Plantation. What a gem! It’s a self guided tour and gives you a small, but accurate view of life in the late 1700- 1800’s. Not only do you get an idea of the owner’s family but a glimpse of slave life. The lady who introduced me to the house was quite knowledgeable and the young man in the ticket/museum shop were friendly and welcoming. This does not take a long time to visit but is well your time. I discovered The Lyric Theatre from information in my hotel room and it was one of the best things I enjoyed while in Blacksburg. The staff were friendly and the popcorn was very good. I did not realize there was balcony seating until after the movie was over and the lights went up, and then I could see the beautiful theatre. A true gem in Blacksburg! Loved everything about this winery and B&B. The property is gorgeous, the B&B is clean and well thought out, the owners are delightful folks, and the staff is pleasant and respectful. The wine was exceptional for this region and respectable for any region. My wife and I spent a couple of anniversary nights here and lucked into timing it with a dinner in the vines event on the property. Their chef prepared 4 courses paired with estate wines and Yvan and Joyce expanded on the story of the wines as the night progressed. The property is large and has hiking trails throughout, with enough hills to make for a solid work out, complete with fantastic views. The final morning there we were given the chance to participate for a couple of hours of the fall grape harvest. Loved it! I came here for the grand opening in August. It is such a gorgeous place! The front porch wraps around the building and you can relax and sit on one of the rocking chairs. The interior has been restored to its original beauty. There are art displays and interactive stations for visitors. They also hold some events, like live music, genealogy classes, art classes and more. The great-great-grandson of the founder of Blacksburg, Alexander Black, a prominent businessman, built this Queen Anne Victorian architectural style home in 1897. A couple coworkers and I made the trip from Lynchburg (almost two hours away) to play Taken! This was my first visit to Puzzlr, but I’ve played 20+ escape rooms total. Puzzlr is 100% in my top 3 escape room locations! We escaped in 53 minutes and were VERY impressed with what the creators have come up with! There were several neat tricks implemented throughout the room I had never seen before. We also loved the number of puzzles that required communication between two or more players from opposite sides of the room. The room was overall amazing - kept you thinking from start to end, never left you standing around, and was full of surprises! The owners are friendly and super passionate about their work! They even gave us recommendations on where to eat afterward. The facility is clean and conveniently located in the downtown area. We will DEFINITELY be back for more! See more..

They have some great locally grown fruits and veggies as well. If anyone has had a bad experience here, it is probably because they tried to come in unmasked. We played mini golf here for the first time and this is a good one. Not only is the course challenging at times, there are some fun decorations. In two places there were Mischief Spinners, which really added to the fun of the course. Prior to your turn, you spin the spinner and follow the directions, ex: Putt with your eyes closed, choose an opponent to be your extra obstacle by standing on the course, use your hand only on your first shot. The Mexican restaurant in the same complex delivers. There are board games and a free library. They don't let you touch the tablet for tip so you have to verbally tell the staff how much you would like to tip and they did not give the option for a receipt.
