-This park is special!
Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Parks • Playgrounds
Beautiful park right on the Abita River. Lots to see and do here. Trailhead for Tammany Trace brings in the bikers. Trailhead Museum in the old Abita Springs Station is definitely a site to see. Love the old 1884 Pavilion with the original Abita Spring inside. Green space with park benches and picnic tables. Playground and splash pad for the children. Walking distance to Abita Brew Pub. What’s not to love? Highly recommended! See more..
- 4.5 Abita Brewing Company (378 reviews)
-Very interesting tour. Staff is very informative and professional
Wednesday: Spent 2-3 hours Bars & Clubs • Breweries
Founded in 1986, Abita was the first craft brewery to open in the Southeast. Today, we produce 160,000 barrels of beer annually in a range of great tasting, unpretentious styles including Abita Amber, Purple Haze, and Wrought Iron IPA. Located just north of New Orleans, we recently completed a three-year, $30 million state-of-the-art expansion of the brewery that will increase our capacity to 400,000 barrels while introducing groundbreaking environmental advancements to the brewing process. We are currently not offering tours at this time but plan to have tours back in early 2022! Come to the brewery to try a flight of your favorite Abita or a new offering from our Pilot system! -Take an hour and have a great time!
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums • Art Museums
This place is great! The Folk Artists that put this together have a great sense of humor and skill. The place is fun, and it is inspiring what can be done with found objects. The Career finder game is like some hone made pachinko game. BRILLIANT! The store is full of funny things and very skilled prints. Plan to spend about an hr. Not all the buildings have AC, and my daughter was bit by a few mosquitoes, but just be aware. It was still absolutely worth the time and money. See more..
- 4.5 Tammany Trace (70 reviews)
-A nice option, if you are an active person.
Wednesday: 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM Biking Trails
Tammany Trace was a nice find to have while staying in Abita Springs. My understanding is that it is about 30 miles long and it connects to another cute town called Covington. It is surrounded by lots of different kinds of plants and trees to admire. In between certain areas, you may find some new and older homes, and some remains of past history that took you back and made you wonder how it really appeared in its days. You will find some folks walking, running or biking down the path. If you are by yourself, you felt safe especially knowing that they had someone driving back and forth every so often in this little car watching and making sure everything was being taken care of from security to garbage pickups. It was a good bonus to find in my travels. See more..
