  8. 4.5 The Belgrade Fortress (6.619 reviews)
    - Fortifications from the past centuries - well preserved.
    Historic Sites
    The Belgrade Fortress image
Through the centuries of medieval history the fortress of Belgrade held a crucial role in the christianity's fight against the expansion of the Ottoman empire. Built by the serbians and latter "upgraded" to a Vauban style fortress by the Habsburgs, today it is still standing above the Danube in the city of Belgrade. For those of you who love history it is a great place to visit ... especially if you are going to visit it with a guide ... you will learn a lot of interesting facts. The fortress itself is not in the greatest shape and I would need some refurbishing work here and there but overall still is an excellent experience. When you are in Belgrade I recommend you go visiting - it is definitely worth it and the entrance is free of charge - so it can be also a very cost effective activity. See more..
  9. 4.5 St. Sava Temple (3.174 reviews)
    - Impressive
    Churches & Cathedrals
    St. Sava Temple image
We visited this absolutely stunning church during a tour of the city with Viking Cruises. The interior is amazing with the walls and ceilings covered in numerous coloured glass mosaic tiles. It is, apparently, the second largest Orthodox church in the world with the largest being in Russia. When we visited work was still ongoing to finish it and hence the marble floor was covered with blankets/carpet to provide protection. The inside felt more like a mosque than a church due to domed ceilings and the absence of any seating. Opposite the church is a statue of Nikola Tesla, who is probably one of the most well-known names in the world. This is one of the most impressive churches we have visited and therefore a ‘must see’ when in Belgrade. See more..

I have to mention, is really busy at that time of the year. Closing, you can find shops, Christmas markets, restaurant, bars pubs, exchange offices and then at the end of the street you get to Kalemegdan. See more..
  12. 4.5 Ada Ciganlija (1.385 reviews)
    - Must visit
    Beaches
    Ada Ciganlija image
I visited during COVID so it wasn’t under normal circumstances. As a resort that is literally 15 minutes from the centre this place is amazing. You feel like you’re on holiday. From the beach to the waterfront bars and cafes you could be miles away from the city. This is a welcome haven to get away from the bustle of central Belgrade. There should be this sort of place near every city. See more..

  15. 4.5 Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress (622 reviews)
    - Good place for a lazy Sunday afternoon
Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas • Castles
Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress image
Large park with old shady trees covering the top of a hill, around the Belgrade Fortress. The fortress itself is actually located inside the park. It worth visiting mainly for the views over Belgrade. The most spectacular sight is the confluence of Danube with Sava River. Cruise ships mooring at the Sava quay and various boats floating lazy on the Danube can be spotted from the park. There are some kiosks from one can buy beer, soft drinks and popcorn. Watching the sunset from a bench in the park, with a can of local beer in one hand and some popcorn in the other was a relaxing experience. While strolling in the park, we discovered some interesting statues, like the one of a fisherman fighting a snake. Overall, it's a good place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. See more..
  16. 4.5 Crkva Svetog Marka (504 reviews)
    - An Orthodox church in the center of Belgrade bursting with positive energy

Definitely the most beautiful church in Belgrade. It is worth seeing, it is airy inside with a beautiful and incredible light of the dome that literally enchants the bass when entering. The interior is full of colors and beautiful details that are enjoyed universally, regardless of religious affiliation. For me, a special place from early childhood, always filled me with some calmness and pride. See more..

Relaxing walk along Danube river for a few kilometers. There are a lot of floating restaurants, bars and cafés lined up by the river, so you can pick one for a snack and a drink if you get tired. We picked Savana Café, which proved to be a good choice. Great for jogging or cycling, as well as for birdwatching. See more..
  18. 4.5 Saint Petka's Chapel (426 reviews)
    - Don't skip this church at the Belgrade Fort
    Religious Sites
    Saint Petka's Chapel image
This church's namesake is that of a Serbian Saint. She is known as the saint of weavers, probably due to her generosity in clothing the poor. It's walls are covered with beautiful mosaics. When we were there, there was some kind of ceremony going on so we didn't get to spend too much time inside. There is also a separate building where one can light candles and pray. See more..

  21. 4.5 The National Assembly (301 reviews)
    - Amazing place for architecture and history lovers
    Historic Sites
    The National Assembly image
The National Assembly Building is a very impressive structure. We were impressed by the beauty of the building and enjoyed the stay at the very nice park which is just a few steps behind. The building of the House of National Assembly, originally the House of Representatives, began to be built in 1907 as a representative building for the needs of the Kingdom of Serbia. The Assembly Building represents a monumental academic building. It is worth admiring. The rich history and way of construction and time of construction make this building particularly interesting. Interior with corridors, large plenary hall, small plenary hall, vestibul (entrance hall) , dome, monumental staircase are not left indifferent anybody. Just magical. The interior of the library is thoughtful to the details, and the furniture is shaped in a national spirit. Amazing place for architecture lovers . If you are near you definitely need to visit. - Beautiful little residence
    Historic Sites
Residence of Princess Ljubica (Konak Kneginje Ljubice image
A very small palace or residence is vey beautiful and cosy...the entrance cost 200 dinars around £1.80 The people working in there are nice and polite. They have 3 floors in that place. The basement with a beautiful art gallery the ground floor with some seating areas the gardens and the top floor with the dining abs seating area... I did not see any bedrooms .... princess ljubica was a wife of Prince Milos Obrenović. Bodies of Water
    Sava River image
Belgrade Waterfront and the Sava River area of the city - where nature meets progress. Belgrade Waterfront is well underway (albeit not finished), it is advanced in terms of its development. A highly ambitious and exciting development. The Sava River area is a large scale development and does add a brand new dimension to this old city. Personally, I believe the development adds weight and opens up the waterfront to the city residents. Great area for recreation. See more..
  24. 4.5 Museum of Aviation (256 reviews)
    - Very interesting museum with a lot of real airplanes
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM Speciality Museums
    Museum of Aviation image
Museum of Aviation is located in the surroundings of Belgrade, close to the Airport, so it was the last visit in our trip in Serbian Country, just before going to airport. We visited it in November-2019 and it was a very interesting museum, because here you can learn a lot about aviation, especially airplanes used in wars (i.e. Balcan Wars or World Wars). Really a place to learn about aviation and technical concepts, and the perfect place to airplane-lovers. The building is a bit degraded, so I think that it should be better maintained. However walking around it seeing a lot of airplanes is very nice. See more..

Walking through Kalemegdan obligation is to visit the Church of the Holy Mother of God (Church Ruzica). Why? Because it is the oldest church in Belgrade and because it is beautiful. The rich history of this church makes it extremely interesting. According to the legend , the church was built by the sisters Ružica, Marica and Cveta. The present church was in the 18th century a weapons depot, which was 1867-1869. converted into a military church. The church was ruined by the Turks and Germans, but it was rebuilt. Outside it is enriched with two statues. One represents the Emperor Dusan, and the other warriors from the Balkan Wars. The interior of the church is richly decorated with beautiful icons.
