simply wow we saved the best for the last. Gurara falls is well managed - there is an entrance fee of 500 naira per person. Its better to have your own means of transportation. There are different areas of the waterfall. The lookout point, the sandy shore part where you can do pinics and barbeque , the rocky front at the waterfall base where you can sunbath if you wanted. Towards the end there is a swimming area where you can take dip. The locals fish there also so its possible to get white catfish, black catfish and some other types. We had a guide and gave him a 1000 Naira for taking us around. Absolutely a must see See more..

    Yankari Game Reserve image
Yankari When I first came to Yankari national park over 20 years ago soft drinks were served in glass bottles that were recycled by the bottling plants and there were few Nigerian visitors to the park. Today plastic is ubiquitous and there is a steady steam of day trippers from across he state. It is good to see young people appreciate the natural splendour of one of West Africa’s largest game reserves and enjoy bathing in the warm spring. But as resources are limited, the rising numbers of visitors many of whom are bringing their own food and drink, causes the all to familiar problem of pollution. Once were rubbish bins, but the baboons, who regard this place as their own and roam freely, upturned them send the rubbish everywhere. So the previous manager decided to dismantle the bins. Wit nowhere to dispose of their waste, the visitors now leave their wrappers, bottles, lunch boxes as souvenirs across the park. Mohamed Ladan, who took on the job of General Manager last year, is now battling the stem the tide. Early last year he banned visitors from bringing in water sachets that were regularly thrown out of car windows. Staff at the museum and bathing facilities have been instructed to clean up their areas every day. But these efforts need support, so guest have to lend a hand. A behaviour change is needed, to make people take responsibility for their own Coming to the reserve on Saturday 11 March one group of German environmentalists supported the team in cleaning up a barrier of waste that had formed a kilometre downstream from the source. A few hours work achieved a wonderful transformation. See more..
