The Koure Giraffe Reserve is an excellent day trip, and was one of the highlights of Niger. At the park entrance, you pick up a park ranger who will help you track the free-ranging giraffe herds through the park. We saw two different groups of giraffes- it took about 20 minutes to find the first, and 45 minutes to find the second. Since the giraffes roam freely, the ranger is necessary for locating them. We got so close; they crossed right in front of us. It was amazing! A 4x4 is definitely required to make it through the dirt tracks that make up the "road". The park sells t-shirts at the entrance, but bring your own water and snacks. This was the perfect place to live out all my safari dreams. See more..
