In February 2021 I took 2 tours with Jos travel, one to Robertsport (3 days) and one to Kpatawee, Ganta/Sanniquelli, Yekepa, Harbel and Buchanan/Edina (4 days). The tours were very well organized and both, Ismael our driver and Ambrose out tour guide took very good care of us and were very knowledgeable. I enjyoed everey moment. I visited Wulki Farms twice during my ICS placement, spending some much needed time in the pool and exploring the grounds of this impressive estate. The swimming pools are excellent, especially considering where you are, and we had lots and lots of fun jumping in and out. There are also Crocodiles and Ostriches to be found, and the general area had some pretty good birding too. See more..

I contacted West Tourism via a referral from a Liberian YouTuber. She was quick to respond and worked with me to tailor my vacation to my taste. What I mostly appreciate from her (the founder) is looking out for me by providing me with details regarding a planned protest. I used her agency for Kpatawee Waterfalls, Robertsport and Monrovia City Tour. The Kpatawee waterfalls was my favorite. Robertsport is ok- the lake is beautiful. It probably will be best to spend a night or two at Nana Lodge -I suppose then Robertsport will be a cool spot. There wasn’t much to the Monrovia city tour because it’s just your regular capital/big city- just the Ducor hotel (beautiful views), the museum (you should go) and Providence Island. See more..

I believe we took the third ever social impact tour. Each tour has been just slightly different, depending on the circumstances. Everything went very well - the places/businesses shown were varied and VERY interesting - giving fantastic insight to "grassroots Liberia". I feel that that particular Saturday is definately one of the best spent in Liberia, and the value for money is great. In addition to meeting some truly courageous and entrepreneurial Liberians, it is also a nice opportunity to meet fellow expats/travellers. As a sidenote, the food that was served was delicious. I only wish there were more items to purchase, as a way to support the activities. Go there! See more..

The History of Liberia, according to the museum seemed to commence just 200 years ago. It seems the museum had no interest in covering the region's history prior to the freed slaves arriving from the Americas... doesn't take a genius to work out why. But what was there was pretty interesting as too was the building which is newly refurbished. Exhibits mostly covered very recent history, especially surrounding presidents and the first and second civil wars. I'd buy a book if you want a real in-depth and comprehensive history of the region. Top tips: Watch out for the mouse on the second floor. Wear a jacket - it's freezing in there. Avoid the photo section if you have a weak stomach. Don't let the museum official at the door who demands $10 per person without any official signage and/or ticket have a dime of your money. Contribute what you feel worthy to the donation box.
