1. 5.0 Dzanga-Sangha Reserve (26 reviews)
   - You'll not see as many forest elephants anywhere else in Central Africa

   Visited Dzanga-Sangha in March 2013 just before the Seleka overthrew the government. Sangha Bai is probably one of the best places in the world to see elephants, hundreds can be seen in a few hours as the come to the river bed to drink and get mud baths. The scenary is fantastic and unspoilt, or at least it was in March 2013. Reportedly the rebel forces were involved in a number of serious poaching incidents in April 2013, but I am told the situation is largely under control again, at least in terms of poaching. Accommodation at the Sangha Lodge was extremly pleasant, the rooms were in large wooden structures raised on stilts and overlooking the spectacular Sangha River. Breakfast was also served overlooking the river, with the occasional villagers passing by on doug-out canoes. In Bayanga village there was also a Bayaka (pigmee) craft centre. Gorilla tours were also availble but I did not have a chance to take one. See more..
