Pungu-a-Ndongo (also called Pungo Andongo) is located at about 100 km from Malanje city centre via the Cacuso road. The stones are giant! In my family we usually travel with small children, the youngest one in this trip is 3 years old. In order to see the stones from the top you've to climb the mount and two sets of stairs, it took us less than 10 minutes. The climbing is exhausting, however, by the time you get to the top you just feel rewarded. When you reach the top there's a small belvedere which allows you to contemplate these giant stones safely. And it's safer for kids. It was a windy morning and we were really happy for that small belvedere is the only fall proof structure over there. People use the site for praying they actually leave small piled stones behind on the spot where they prayed; we had to be especially careful to not kick so many piles of stones. See more..

    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Black Rocks image
This is an impressive rock formation, probably the result of magma falling into deep ocean craters millions of years ago when this land was an ocean floor, and the craters themselves weathering ago way over the millenia leaving these eerie, majestic rocks standing out. You can go there and do some wonderful hiking and rock climbing. It is completely pristine, no reply services and very few tourist. This is one of those experiences that stick with you. See more..
