Main shopping street of Copenhagen

Well known as one of the longest pedestrianised streets in Europe, Stroeget has all the well known stores as well as independent Danish shops. Yes it can be busy but this is a capital city, it is a lot easier than London’s Regents Street. It is well worth walking the entire length as it leads you to different parts of the city. By the bronze stalk statue you’ll find very clean subterranean public toilets. Many of the walking tours start by the Gammel Strand Metro Station, which is found just off Stroeget. Many other attractions are located close to this street. We went during December so the street was decorated and great smells from the Christmas markets filled the air.

‘A charming street which is hard to avoid when visiting Copenhagen.’
Just off the city hall square and a short walk from Tivoli Gardens it’s a perfectly central location.. As Strøget is the worlds longest pedestrian street, it almost feels compulsory to stroll the entire length of the street. If shopping is one of your past times and you have money to burn, there’s a wide range of shops, ranging from cosmetics, clothing and toys. If eateries are more your thing, they have restaurants/bars, coffee shops and takeaway food joints. Overall, a charming street which is hard to avoid when visiting Copenhagen.

This is a nice shopping street with something for everyone, but be ready to part with one of your kidneys if you want to buy something here. Copenhagen is the most expensive city we visited in Europe so far (and we visited, Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels) with 30-50% higher cost than other cities. So this street has nice shops and from what I saw, the nice shops come with hefty prices. I would say save your money and shop in another city. The city is nice and the people are kind and friendly, but this city is not tourist friendly when it comes to cost. Will never come here again.
