Rosnaes Fyr, Zealand, Denmark

Great lighthouse!
Beautiful nature, lots of history, and good guides. You first come to the little café, which serve some cookies and coffee/tea. You can also get a limited variety of souvenirs. But the main attraction is the lighthouse. Before going up you get a stone to keep while visiting, and you get binoculars for watching ships. Along the way to the top there are various exhibits from the history of the lighthouse, and at the upper level, you can climb a steep ladder to a narrow manhole for going up on the observation deck. Up here, you have a magnificent view, and around the fence you can read lots of history of the place. All texts are in Danish and English. At the ground level you walk through a very nice museum, having various exhibits on how the peninsula was created geologically, and in the next rooms you are brought through history of the site. Well worth a visit!

sea and sky
There's an excellent 5 kilometre walk around the glacial moraines of the Røsnæs peninsular from the nature centre to the lighthouse. It takes a couple of hours, along the stony beaches, past woodlands, across some fields and around small lakes. At the lighthouse there's a little café, but it was closed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. From the viewpoints you can see Samsø, northern Funen and Sejerø. The sky meets the sea with ships sliding past on their way through the Great Belt. An idyllic spot!

Good place to wind down
Beautiful place at the tip of Rosnaes. I have experienced nice weather and clear view, have been there many times to take fresh air. You can find a calm bench if descending to the seashore.
