Geo Center Mons Klint, Zealand, Denmark

4.5 (257 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in South Zealand Speciality Museums

One of the best museums with enthusiastic staff!

This area is already beautiful but I cannot recommend this GeoCenter enough. It is a charming boutique and museum with a great cafe with reasonable prices. I highly recommend getting a tour by Niels. Every museum in the world should have a Niels. He was so passionate and engaging and made all of us excited and interested in the geological history of Denmark, chalk and limestone. This center is also great for kids which was a lovely surprise. I would highly recommend making a day, seeing Møns Klint, having lunch, explore the museum, and then buying some local honey or souvenirs to take home. They even have ziplining and snorkeling! I am looking forward to going back for the fall colors.

    Best fossil hunting ever
I have to admit that I have tried to find fossils in several different countries. Not sure if I actually found any. However, we brought several hammers and did some genuine fossil exploration here. Had so much fun, especially when we continued to find more and more fossils as we walked further and further away. We spent maybe an hour or so down the steps by the cliffs and pond.

    Well worth a visit
We visited the cliff and the museum early in the season, on a rainy day. Nevertheless, as we came prepared it did not stop us, having a great experience. The climb down to the beach – and up again – requires you are fit for the approx. 440 steps, and have shoos with a good grip as it gets slippery when wet. If so, you are guaranteed an exciting experience. We visited as a group and had booked a guide that gave an interesting and informative commentary, and who helped identify the fossils we found on the beach. The museum is very interesting and instructive. We had too little time to see all we would have liked to. So a piece of advice: Plan for at least ½ a day. Especially if the weather is beautiful.
