A lovely village and island on the NE shore of Erhai Lake
Definitely worth a day trip from Dali/Xiaguan - 1.5 hours minimum but the road along the East shore of Erhai Lake is really scenic - and in our view much prettier than Dali old town or Xizhou. A restored and gentrified lakeside old town. The main street and and connecting alleys (no cars) are worth an amble to browse the shops and street food but what makes Shuanglang are the views of lake and village from the shoreline and a walk round Nanzhao Island (a very short and frequent ferry). Also worth seeing on coast road to the village are the many primary and pastel coloured convertible sports cars hired by young men to impress and photograph their dates. We visited off season. I suspect that this village may get overrun in high season

Need to be seen at non holiday time
Bus from Dali North Bus station for RMB 15 each way . Takes 1.5 hrs and the trip is on small 18 seater through some small towns. In Chinese holiday season it is traffic jams and queues. The town and Nanzhao Island are worth seeing as they are very scenic and relaxed when not full of internal tourists at summer holiday period.
