    Bigger then what we thought!
Spent a couple of days in York so I thought myself & husband would like to visit the National Railway museum. They do request you to book your ticket on line before you go, whether you want to go in free or give a donation. Larger then what we thought with a lot of full size trains, miniatures etc. in a indoor enclosed area. Ideal if it’s raining or like us when we visited it was 40 degrees, so we were out of the sun. They do have a large cafe area, which is ideal for a drink or snack. Toilets and car parking are also available. We spent about two hours there but if you were a keen railway fanatic you probably could spent a lot longer there. Well worth a visit.

You don't need to be a train fanatic to enjoy the Museum
We visited on a Sunday and arrived just as the Museum opened. Although it got busier during the day, the Museum is so large that it never felt that busy. There is an awful lot to see and you don't need to be a train fanatic to enjoy the day out. For adults and children alike, being up close to some of the most iconic trains of our time adds to the enjoyment. Be prepared to do a fair bit of walking; that said, there are a number of rest areas where you can grab food and refreshments, all of which was of a very good quality. If you're staying in York, it is only a short walk from the City centre. If you're driving there is a car park on site. The Museum is free to enter but we did book tickets online prior to our visit (as recommended by the Museum) - please check if that still applies. Well worth a visit. 5*
