A stunning architecture, an excellent museum
The museum is a modern building with unusual architectural features. Inside there are permanent and temporary exhibitions showing the natural and human history of Yilan. The exhibition is well-designed and quite impressive. The legend of Count de Benyowsky is of most interest to me. Maurice Benyowsky (1746-1786 AD) was a well-known adventurer and writer of the Kingdom of Hungary (present Slovakia). In 1771, he landed on the coast of Yilan and stayed for over ten days. The museum itself is an artwork. It is a must for architecture and design lovers.

Window of Yilan
The biggest and most prominent exhibit on display in the Museum is none other than the Museum structure itself. The Museum design was sent out for open competition in early 2000, and the winning entry was awarded to Dayuan Architecture Design Consulting Firm and Architect Kris Yao was appointed as the chief architect. The inspiration for the museum building design originated from the locale’s natural environment. Through artistic imagination and techniques, the building takes the shape of a cuesta, a gently tilted stone escarpment commonly seen along Taiwan’s northeast coast. The highest point in the building structure points towards Yilan’s famous landmark – the Turtle Island. The entirety of the magnificent construction indeed serves as a perfect symbol of the rich history, culture and distinctive natural landscape features of Lanyang.

Good place to visit.
It's good place for education of kids. Take your time with kids to explore more place in this exhibition.air conditioning is available while visiting, you gonna love it very much, especially in the hot day.
