A cool (58 degree F) thing to do in August in the South
My son and I visited this Cave as an end of summer adventure. It is truly one of God‘s amazing creations. We did call ahead two days before to pay over the phone with a credit card to secure our spot as we didn’t know how crowded the venue would be. This is a very easy path that is paved all the way. There are ups and downs but nothing very challenging. It is slick with the dampness that you get in caves. The guide told me that if you make special arrangements ahead that you can possibly go in on a golf cart if you have mobility issues.

    AWESOME for all ages
These Caverns are just awesome!! The paved walkway was great, so none of us tripped and the ceilings were high, so no squeezing thru small spaces. The formations in this cave are just awe inspiring and the river, bridges and cathredal room are just beautiful. Due to Covid our size of tour was limited and we all had masks on, so we felt very "safe". The tour guide was good and was very knowlegable. Our only suggestion would be for the tour guides to wear a wireless mic, as when the guide is walking and talking with her back to us, it was gard to hear her. We asked her a few times to repeat what she said. FOr the cost of tickets for 2, I would think the State of AL could afford microphones. Also, when we show my husbands Veterans license, we usually get a discount for the 2 of us, but they only took $2 off his ticket, but not the spouse. We also drove down to the small campground to check it out and it was ok...just too bad there is no dump out station for campers. We would definetly come back to the Caves and bring friends. Hidden gem in AL!!
