Did you hear the ghost?
Tucked away in East Tennessee is an old English castle complete with towers, 37 rooms, an exact replica of Sir Walter Scott's library and, some say, its own ghost. Built in 1830, Hundred Oaks Castle is a rich man's dream that once operated as a monastery for more than 50 years and now is a popular tourist attraction with a gift shop, restaurant and gardens. Located at 101-199 Hundred Oaks Place in Winchester, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, Hundred Oaks Castle was originally built as a plantation farm house by railroad tycoon Benjamin Decherd. The property was purchased in the 1860s by Albert Marks, the 21st governor of Tennessee, and later renovated by Marks' son Arthur and the current ownership, the Kent Bramlett Foundation. The ghost story? According to legend, while visiting Hundred Oaks Castle with her parents, a 10-year-old girl disappeared. She couldn't be found but people kept hearing her voice. A day later, her drowned body was found in the spring cellar. Now, on the first of the month, when the incident was supposed to have happened, the little girl's voice is still heard. Unfortunately, the castle and gardens are only open to tours of 20 or more. The gift shop has postcards, prints, framed artwork and books about the castle's history.

This castle is no longer there. A fire destroyed it several years ago. The next to last business was a restaurant with good food.
