Just somewhere that you gotta go really.
We parked up in the very busy car park and went to the visitor centre and had a look around that area and then queued for the bus to take you to the site itself which takes a good 10 mins by bus. You can walk but it is literally along the side of the road so nothing to see just walking a long way along a road and the bus is complimentary anyway. It takes you to the site and then drops you off and you walk a bit to the actual site. Obviously you cant go that near the stone circle but you can go all around the outside of it. Cant really say any more about it because like I say it is just a place that you feel you should go to at some point in your life. We have seen many programmes about it and about its history and latest information they have about the landscape around it etc. queued to get a bus back or you could walk and then went around the shop and loos and there is a cafe etc at the visitors centre and picnic tables.

    GNOMUS and interactive in holidays
Visited during the holidays and it was good fun. We got to meet Gnomus and heard some stories about history of the henge and since it was interactive following them the children enjoyed the session and listened. Both children had a little complain that Gnomus was a little loud however we stood right at the front. The stones are further back and roped off and to be honest the children prefer Avebury where they can get closer. Overall was great to see and tick off the bucket list. It is an impressive site the photo ideas have made it more interactive for guests. I would recommend walking further round the stone for the photos as the start gets very crowded. The neolithic village wad nice to look around and we even saw a bird nesting in the roof of one of the houses. Ten stars to the archeology dig and the man that ran our session he kept the children engrossed in the talk and even let them handle the items to hunt out information on them like would be done on a dig.
