Lovely park

Normally I avoid lakes like the plauge due to my time working as a submarine chef and due to my old age, my balance isn't what it used to be so I have the ghastly fear that I will fall in. However, this is a beautiful park and I come here often with my wife Sybil to feed the ducks. Thanks to my time as a vetinary chef (I am 91 years old, I have been every type of chef), I know how to prepare gourmet duck food. It is safer to eat for the ducks and provides adequate nutrition, unlike bread. Bread is actually terrible for ducks as it has no valuable nutrition and makes them feel full. As a result, they will not look for food and may become malnourished. I enjoyed riding the minature train as it made me think of my brief stint as a railway chef. I wish I could go back to those days, but until I've finished building my time machine (I am now a scientist) they will remain nothing but sweet memories.

    Very pleasant lakeside walk.
Situated to the south east of Swindon and a short distance from J15 of the M4 this is a spacious country park centred around Coate Water. The north end by the car park and facilities does have an air of past glories about it with the walk section by the small cafe and the shelter more resembling a popular speed dating spot for an enormous amount of pigeons and the now disused concrete diving board is a sun spot for seagulls. A lot of the family activities still appear to be closed, such as the pitch and putt and small steam train but the kiddies splash water park did seem to be functioning. But for adults out for a stroll then once you get away from this north end it really is a very pleasant stroll around the lake, which will take 40 minutes to an hour depending on your walking pace, or longer if you take advantage of the many resting places to take in the pleasant vistas. I understand there is a small charge for the car park, which has upset some local dog walkers, and I do see their point that Swindon council should spend that money maintaining the north end of the country park. But I am in no position to comment as we had lunch in the nearby Sun pub and there is a path from the pub car park to the country park, thus avoiding the park parking charges.

    Lovely walk
Large lake to walk around, going through woody areas so nice & cool on a hot day plus large open grass areas suitable for picnics. Theres a small cafe & toilets which are open plus a play park but that's closed at the moment. Plenty of swans, geese & ducks to feed. Popular with dog walkers & cyclists. Theres a large car park which has an overflow area on a field for busy times & costs £1 for 2 hours. Great place for families with small children.
