Centennial Bike Trail, Illinois, United States

4.5 (11 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Willow Springs Biking Trails

Great views and beautifully paved trail

Love this trail. My favorite for bike riding and even jogging. It’s popular so use caution when passing, but that certainly doesn’t take anything away from the trail. Try it out! I’m sure you’re going to feel that same!

12 mile long trail between the Des Plaines River and the barge canal
This is paved bike and walking trail that runs from Willow Springs to Romeoville. It runs between the Des Plains River and the Chicago sanitary and Ship Canal which is a commercial barge waterway. There are views of the river at both ends of the trial and views of the shipping canal in between. your have only one road crossing along the 12 mile route, although about a mile is along a service road leading to some commercial businesses along the canal. Three major roadways pass overhead on massive bridges. You're likely to see deer, some snakes and turtles and an occasional coyote. Weekends can be quite busy - watch out for families with kiddies, totally oblivious to bike zooming by at 20 mph.

Great trail and cyclists with manners
Love this trail its a great trial and the cyclists have manners which seems to be lacking at a lot of the other trails around. I’d recommend the Centennial Trail for a great cycling experience!
