Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park, Massachusetts, United States

5.0 (2 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #2 in Whitinsville National Parks

Excellent facility

Home base for the parks many recreational facilities and Ranger-led programs. I especially like the Blackstone Valley bike trail. This location is in the back of an old mill complex with a brewery, restaurant and other shops.

    Wildlife and views
So if you visit have something to protect yourself if necessary. One late afternoon on the way in on Westside of river. I was only in a few hundred yards and spotted a coyote. Then another several hundred yards spotted several deer. We then went around to King Philip rock and saw a fox after just a short way in. While sitting quietly we saw several hawks fly by. We also got to see several squirrels, chipmunks and array of birds. The views from here are great and could only compare to Shining rock. On the way out we got to to hear an owl. Plan on spening sveral hours if you are going checkout the old canal locks and hike up to King Philip rock. This also a great area to mountain bike along canal. You can go North to Plummers Landing or South pass River Bend Farm vistor center to Rt 16.
