Quiet Beach ...
This is a quieter beach front as compared to the Galle Face Beach. A nice place to relax on the beach; enjoy the sea breeze; enjoy the sunset view with peaceful surroundings. We were told by our driver/ guide that Negombo is usually a starting point or ending point of Sri Lanka trip since it is closer to the International Airport. We were so glad that we made Negombo as our last destination during our Sri Lanka Trip as it is indeed a relaxing place to end the trip after the extensive tour around Sri Lanka Island.

Hectic in the evenings
a large beach with lots going on especially in the late afternoon when it cools down. Boat trips are fun as the speed boats fly straight up the beach when coming into land. music and dancing going on and a small market for street food etc.. trouble is the locals don't respect what they have and tend to leave a lot of rubbish around which is a shame.

Beware of "milk powder scam"
The beach is nice, but a little dirty and too many touts trying to sell or scam disturbing the peace. Beware that "the milk powder scam" is in operation this beach. Basically someone approaches you with a sob story and says they don't want any money.. they just want you to come to a local shop and by some milk powder for their starving baby. The shop keeper is in on the scam and will charge you a large anount for the milk powder. I didn't fall for it so I don't know how much.. but have heard of people paying £60!!! Once you have gone the person will then return the milk powder to the shop and get their cut. This is a very common scam thoughout Asia.
