Geiranger Fjord, Western Norway, Norway

Beautiful!

We traveled Geiranger Fjord on a small cruise ship. We got up early to watch as we entered and traveled along the fjord & did the same when we departed. The captain narrated the entire journey, identifying every waterfall and telling stories of the people who live here. It was worth getting up early, settling in by the front of the ship, and taking in the view beyond each bend. At the end, was the delightful village of Geiranger. Loved the sail in & out!

    Aalesund day trip from Geiranger
We travelled by ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt and drove over the mountain pass to Aalesund with the owner of Lunheim Accomodation. We had a walk around the arte nouveau city before heading up to the fantastic viewpoint of Fjellstua. A comfortable SUV and a good knowledgeable guide, good food on our way, and affordable rates

    Stunning!
We spent 3 nights in Geiranger. We arrived by ferry through the Fjord. The waterfalls are amazing and the captain narrates throughout the journey. Geiranger town is very small at the end of the Fjord but has great hotels, views of he Fjord, great restaurants and amazing bakeries. Also a shop where they make their own chocolates. Camping accommodations are available, too. From our balcony overlooking the Fjord, we watched cruise ships (amazed they could fit), a multi-million dollar yacht with onboard helicopter and a sea plane come an go throughout our visit. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Like most of Norway, the roads are steep and mountainous with low speed limits.
