Old Bergen, all in one place

In the 1800s Bergen was Europe’s biggest wooden city, a distinctive city environment with closely spaced wooden buildings, busy streets, markets and alleys. How did it look? What did people talk about? At old Bergen open air museum you can experience some of this atmosphere, with houses from the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Actors makes history come alive. What did it look like? What did people talk about? In the cobbled streets of the Old Bergen Museum, you are welcome to walk into the houses and explore on your own, or maybe have a chat with one of the people who "live" here? In close proximity to the city center and scenic surroundings, you can meet both lords and servants from times gone by. You can peek in through the windows, enter the houses to look at exhibitions and historic interiors. Museumshop, 7 min by bus, bicycle 20 min, walk 40 min from city centre.

    Charming museum- a must visit!
A short boat ride from the centre of Bergen, this lovely museum is worth a visit. The wonderful old collection of houses is certainly special and the displays are good. The entertainment is amusing as is the display of the ‘Penny Farthing’ bicycle! Lovely views across to Bergen and beyond.

    Old Bergen in miniature
Very interesting place. There is collection of old wooden houses collected in one place on a distance of 2km (1.5miles) from the city center. The most of these houses were built more than 200 years ago. They belonged to well-known citizens of Bergen. Very interesting
