Nice Museum
This museum does a nice job presenting several different aspects of Bergen and Norwegian history. English signage is inconsistent but they provide booklets in English and other languages to supplement the signage so you can read everything if you want. The 3rd floor covers the fortress. We didn’t spend too much time on this floor. It seemed ok but the flow of information wasn’t great. We went to the museum primarily to wee the WW 2 exhibits which are on the 2nd floor. It was well done with an emphasis on the resistance movement and Bergen. I liked it a lot. There was also a section on the 2nd floor regarding newspapers during the 1930s and 1940s. There was no English signage so we skipped it. On the first floor there are displays on women in the military and Norway’s military involvement since WW 2. These areas seemed well done although we went through them fairly quickly. Lots to see here. We were glad we went and recommend it, especially if you have an in interest in WW 2.

Very informative
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this museum. Military history isn't a huge interest of mine, but I was told that the museum was free (it was) so I went to check it out. Upon entering I was quickly greeted by someone, who gave me a quick rundown of the museum and explained how it worked. Basically, the museum is all in Norwegian, but it was translated into 5 other languages, which can be read in the packets in the doorway to each room. The museum is very in depth and informative--though to be fair, I knew next to nothing about Norwegian military history before this. Overall I would recommend stopping in for a bit, even if military history is not your forte.
