Bergen Aquarium At the Bergen Aquarium, you can study a coloful and exciting range of fish, watch the otters and other animals get food and watch 360-degree film in Domen, Storsalen. The nice thing about the Aquarium is that you can be both indoors and outdoors, and we have a large nice playground on the roof. You'll definitely know something you didn't beforehand. At Bergen Aquarium, children and adults alike can see, read about and follow the animals and aquarium keepers at close range. You can watch shows and feedings, and see how fish and animals act when in their element. Bergen Aquarium has been a must-see institution for visitors and residents alike since 1960. It's situated a short way from the centre of Bergen, in a fantastic parkside location with a view out over the seaward approach to Bergen from all sides. You can also grab food at Spiseriet Aquarium, if you get hungry.

Worth a visit
I had read mixed reviews about the aquarium but my ten year old and I had a great time when we went in December. We got in for free using our Bergen card (winter fee) and spent a happy one and a half hours there without watching anything in their cinema or going to the cafe so you could stay longer. Highlights were the penguin and sea lion feeding sessions and the cute otters. There was lots of educational information about conservation and plenty to see and do.

Nice visit, but not unproblematic
We were a bit hesitant to go because the price is quite high, but in the end we decided to do it. The range of fish are amazing, though the info could use a bit of work: the screens, while modern, don't seem to be the best way to inform as they change quickly and you have to wait another round if you missed one. Our main take away was about the space. It was sad to see the very small space most of the animals had. Especially the penguins and the crocodile. We hope the foundation plan to fix this and give back to the animals, especially considering the high entrance fee and the popularity the aquarium seems to have.
