Very nice hotel with a beautiful setting and view on Lake Atitlan.

I have spent 3 nights at Posada Don Rodrigo ad was a french solo woman traveller.I found the place very nice with a beautiful view on the volcanoes and Lake Atitlan. The place is safe and the staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast was very good as well. I would recommend it for sure. After it is a matter of budget but I felt very confortable staying there.

    Informative
This is a very small museum on the hotel grounds. It has great explanation about volcanoes around the lake, what kind they are and the formation of them and the lake. Also map that shows the mane of each one. Also, has pottery from the area and the lake. Nice displays but they need cards next to pots so you know more about the individual pots. Worth the stop. It does not take long to go through. Maybe 1/2 hours.

A place to spend a half hour
We had a little time to kill so we went to this small museum just up from the docks. There is some back ground info on the geology of Lake Atitlan and some Maya artifacts. One of our group is a diver, so he was very interested in the small part of the museum dedicated to the Maya ruins that are now underwater. You could not take any photos in this portion of the museum. We walked around the hotel area after visiting the museum for soe nice views of the lake.
