A great day out

With a clearly marked trail all around and stunning views at every turn, we loved being out on the Robberg Peninsula. There are 3 trails to follow, each taking in overlapping and increasingly long routes. We completed the full hike and, with only moderate levels of fitness, we were certainly glad to get to the end 4.5 hours after setting out but loved every step. From the high up north side views look out over Plett and down over colonies of resident seals, while from the south side the trail drops down to almost sea-level where we spent time sitting and watching the endless waves crashing in. The access road to the peninsula is good and it is easily reached from Plett. The carpark was very full when we arrived in the middle of the day but the trail didn't feel overly busy. The small cafe shack selling drinks and treats was much appreciated at the end of our hike. Entrance fees are charged (R60).

Best Hike we have ever done
Decided to do hike at Robberg on our way from PE to Brenton on Sea . About 8km off N2 highway driving through Plettenberg Bay . It's fairly well marked. We visited on 22 Feb 2022 around 8.30am. In summer its wise to do the hike earlier in the day as it gets quite hot. The parking area takes about 30 cars , there are clean bathrooms available & a kiosk for a drink/snack as well as some viewing decks , amazing views. We chose The Point route , there are 3 as mentioned in many other reviews. It is just over 9km round trip but really worth it as you get a bit of everything , views , rock climbing , beach walk & wooden pathways. The views are amazing over Plettenberg Bay , the Beacon Isle Hotel is clearly visible on a sunny day. Saw hundreds of seals below in clear emerald green water & were fortunate enough to even see a whale. Even after a few picture stops & water breaks it took us 2h40mins , the guideline is 3-4hrs . The route is well maintained , clearly marked & has emergency land & sea rescue numbers mentioned all along the route. Robberg really caters for all types of hikers/casual walkers & has wonderful beaches where one can just chill & enjoy a picnic, Over the years we have done many hikes but this was the most scenic we have ever done . Cost is R50pp or free if you have a Wildcard
