Easily the best thing we did in Knysna!
The boat experience was splendid. We were welcomed by the friendly Mila and she made us feel special. The Magic Lagoon Charters provides a memorable experience from explaining the route to the actual cruise, it is a thrill. The highlight was our boat captain Alex, well knowledgeable and has a friendly demeanor. On board, you take off your shoes to honour and conserve the boat whose life spans over a 100 yrs, yet looks only a day old (she is beautiful). We highly recommend Magic Lagoon Charters for family, couples and friends.

Boating on the Knysna lagoon
Pete, our skipper of a beautiful old wooden classic boat , was most knowledgeable about the area of Knysna and it’s surrounds. He told us many things of interest, showed us the little harbour, Knysna Heads and canals of Theissen Island. I highly recommend using his charter company.

Beautiful way to experience Knysna
We had a fantastic experience with Magic Lagoon charters! We’ve been to Knysna several times before but for some reason had never taken a trip out on the water to the Heads. We saw one of Magic Lagoon’s beautiful old boats on the water when having breakfast one day at Flo & Co and thought it would be a fun way to spend the afternoon. We had an amazing time - Peter was an incredible host, very chatty & knowledgeable about the area and giving us lots of local tips (e.g. The Lofts on Thesen Island for a 10/10 setting for a sundowner (the only truly Western facing terrace!)). He also took lots of pictures from his own phone and sent them across to us right after (always super handy when travelling as a couple / makes a change to selfies!). We loved seeing Knysna from the water and learning more about its history, and only wish we’d taken the trip on one of our earlier visits. Highly recommend Peter and Magic Lagoon :)
