Company Gardens - and enjoying the National museums

Fabulous, well-maintained gardens for strolling, enjoying the café, easy access to the National Museum and National Art Gallery - both thoroughly recommended for their exhibits (and at 30 rand a bargain!). Easy access to Cape Town Castle or up to Bo-Kamp. I was told to be careful with my rucksack and looking touristy holding onto a map, but I felt very safe. An idiolic stop.

Nice opportunity to enjoy some shade in central Cape town
The Company's garden is the city's nice green lung offering a much needed opportunity to catch some shade in inner Cape Town. While the city's surroundings are blessed with beautiful nature, green spaces seem rather scarce in the city itself. Therefore the Company's Gardens provide a much needed service to visitors and locals in this otherwise amazing city.

A retreat in the heart of the city
This is Cape Town's Central Park. Around it you'll find the Parliament and several museums, but the park itself is an ideal spot to relax amid some rather interesting trees and other flora, watching squirrels scamper around in the shade. On weekends there are usually musicians playing at the north entry gate and a variety of craftspeople showing/selling their wares along the main footpath. Generally safe during the day.
