Pink Lake, Western Australia, Australia

Interesting Detour
We stopped by on the way to Kalbarri. There was a viewpoint on the Port Gregory side of the lake. It gives a nice panoramic view of the lake but we went during dusk so it wasn't super pink. You are able to head down to the lake area and see the colourations easier by the shore. Possibly something to do during daylight hours to get a better experience.

Hard to view, but worth the effort
The water was a lot higher this time, being winter, and the lake was far... pinker. If that's even a word. The entrance to the viewing area is tough to find, but worth the effort. There's a track south of the mining entrances, and we went down there to see the lake. The last time was in summer, the the kids walked out onto the salt beds and marvelled at the way the salt came off in little sheets. This time the lake was full, so we just took photos from the edge. We've also viewed it from the Port Gregory road, but not sure if there's anywhere else to see it from. The view from the Port Gregory road is wonderful, although the road is narrow and there's not many places to park up safely. We sat on the wall and watched the wind whip up the water into little pink foam bands. Amazing sight.

Pink is the colour
If you’re own the way it’s worth a visit. I’ve never seen a pink lake. However if you’re just driving there to view a pink lake then I’ll think twice as it’s quite a fair bit to drive. I must say, it’s very unique and very few in the world.
