Water more precious than gold! Seriously, The Goldfields museum is a must visit!
We met a fantastic museum guide who took us into the gold vault, chatted about the famous gold finds, the displays on early settlers lives and gold mining in the early days. The essential arrival of piped water desperately needed by the residents and miners in the early 1900's and the mining industry in Kalgoorlie since then. This museum with its tower, displays of early settlers homes and indigenous life was fascinating and a great insight into the beginnings of gold mining in WA. Don't miss the British Arms building and the cottages... We spent about 2 and a half hours and there was still much more to see. We plan on returning to Kalgoorlie and the museum again. The museum staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. Thankyou all!

    Modern and engaging museum
This was a good museum, modern displays and friendly atmosphere. Free entry. Staff met us at the entrance and talked us through the displays and the best ways to view the exhibits. Gift shop was well stocked with a variety of knick knacks to keep the kids happy at a reasonable price. Worth a visit.
