Peace and tranquillity

Stayed on the Quicksilver. A very well appointed, clean and spacious houseboat. Comfortably spent most of our time aboard. Great way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the team at Mandurah Houseboats were extremely helpful. From dolphins swimming beside us, a friendly duck visiting us inside, and the songs of the magpies in the mornings the wildlife was plentiful. I highly recommend anyone going this time of year to be up at 5:30 and enjoy the spectacular sunrises. A massive thankyou from our crew to yours for a memorable trip.

A wonderful 2 night houseboat cruise in Mandurah WA
We returned from our 2 night trip yesterday and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The houseboat we had was clean and tidy and very comfortable. It had all the mod cons on board. For us it was our first time so we took it very easy and did not put ourselves under any pressure, we tied up in one place as our skipper was not confident in turning the vessel. To over come this I recommend that Mandurah Houseboats take as the first step is to get the skipper to practice turning the vessel both clockwise 180 degrees and anti clockwise 180 degrees 2-3 times to drive the skill home and then proceed with the induction. Our skip did not master this skill and spent the rest of the induction worrying out how she was going to go at the parking areas along the rivers. One other thing I would recommend this that Mandurah Houseboats install metal plates that act a walkway from the vessel to the jetty as the houseboats do move about when tied to the jetties along the way. This would reduce risk of an injury and provide surety for those who are infirm when it comes to getting on and off the vessel. Installing such plates will also reduce risk of liability issues. All in all we had a wonderful time and in the fullness of time its our aim to go again and perhaps stay out on the water a night or two longer.

    A Houseboat Adventure at Mandurah
Despite some adverse weather our trip on Clancy was an absolute success. We were impressed with our reception and training in Mandurah and the cleanliness and well equipped state of the houseboat. The sleeping facilities were very comfortable and better than some motels we've stayed in. Our trip took us down to Port Bouvard and using the navigation system with preset courses made everything relatively easy. The Port Manager at Port Bouvard Marina was very helpful in showing us where to berth given the strong northerly wind. We had dinner in the restaurant immediately adjacent to the berth and the food was excellent. Our next leg was to the Murray River where we stayed the night at Pelican Cafe and then visited Coopers Mill the next morning where John, the resident caretaker, showed us around. The Murray River is incredible and should be on everyone's list of places to see. Dredging in the river-mouth made the trip more interesting from a navigation perspective and was well communicated to us by both Mandurah Houseboats and the Dredge Manager. We will certainly be going back for another trip and recommend it to anyone with a sense of adventure looking for something quite different from a car trip.
