    Definitely worth a visit
We went to the Whaling Station and found it fascinating and definitely worth visiting if in the area. There is plenty of parking and is a 10-15 minute drive from the centre of Albany. On-site there is a cafe and toilets and entry was a reasonable fee. We spent a couple of hours at the Station and you are provided with a map and can all listen to audio clips on the way round. There isn’t a set route to walk in my opinion, all of it is very interesting and rather gruesome in some ways. There is a boat that you can walk on, the same one that was used by the workers to catch whales. I thought the Whaling Station was closed because Australia banned whaling but it was a combination of factors, including cost of ships, staff, permission to whale which was only done yearly and protests from Greenpeace to name a few. Highlights were the skeletons and other exhibits and cutting deck (fleshing deck) which was a bit gruesome. Worth a visit.

A look back into the past.
The Albany Whaling Station takes us through the complete history of our whaling past. The tour has some interactive parts and also some former whalers to give a personal voice to our history. An excellent way to show children parts of WA that now gone.
