Penemu, a true adventure

I can honestly say my Trip with www.seasanctuaries.org was one of the most memorable of my life. We set sail from Sarong and spent a couple of weeks exploring some of the most unique dive spots in Raja Ampat. The adventure also included working with the local villages of Saukabu, Saupapir and Fam which made the whole experience feel so much more real than simply being on a Dive holiday. We busied ourselves each day with diving and conservation work which involved fish id and transecting. Steve did an excellent job of co-ordinating the volunteers and both Simon and Whitney really helped us understand the importance of what SS is doing in Raja Ampat. Aswell as conservation work we relaxed under the stars on the top of the boat or had beach bbq's on the local sands. This is a unique experience and one i cant recommend highly enough - incredible diving, great people and you come away feeling you've done something truly altruistic, amazing.

Treasuring marine diversity in Raja Ampat
An amazing experience being part of a marine conservation project - combining leisure and learning in a truly amazing place. From the moment I stepped off the plane I was welcomed and it only got better. Highlights included fantastic diving and snorkelling - appreciating the amazing underworld and extraordinary biodiversity. It was a pleasure and privilege to visit nearby villages and meet some of the local communities. Hang Tuah, the floating research station, was really comfortable and moored in an idyllic location. The crew were friendly - cooking up delicious food, taking us out in boat, & taking care of safety at all times. Sea Sanctuaries Trust works with local communities to manage the marine protected area - it's been great to be a part of this project.

    Amazing Conservation Project!
I volunteered with Sea Sanctuaries Trust for 2 weeks in April this year. The research vessel we stayed on was fantastic and the scenery in Raja Ampat has to be seen to be believed! The diving was out of this world, I have never seen such a variety of marine life (and I have been diving since 1987!) The founders of the Trust are very professional and certainly know their conservation issues. I would highly recommend this to anyone keen on volunteering for community projects and marine conservation.
