Vancouver Lake Park, Washington, United States

4.0 (128 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Vancouver Bodies of Water • Parks

A lot for everyone in the park.

For a small daily or annual fee, you can get park and beach parking, some in full shade. I have now been 3 times this summer, of the family's 6 trips. We can bring bikes or just walk the paved trails or the fields. Bring kayaks or canoe for the lake. They offer several grills and picnic tables, or just spread a blanket on the grass. A true beach to launch or frolic in and sand vollyball court to play. Restrooms with large changing areas provide all day comfort and convenience. The views are amazing, on the beach or floating out in the lake, looking between Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens, with trees and more water between. There is also fishing spots further down the lake at separate parking spots. You can come lightly for a swim or pack food and toys to enjoy several hours(my choice).

A lake abandoned by its comunity
This now deing lake is a backwater and past chanel of the Wilamet river before the columbia changed its chanel. In the 1980's the comunity came together in an atempt to cleanup the Lake mostly with Federal funds. This effort was abandoned and the water quality has steadely spiralled downward making this one of the top most poluted lakes in Washington for each of the last 14 years.

A nice size park off by itself.
I'm a bit confused on how to rate this park. As a local it's a great park to have large picnics at; do some kyaking and canoeing at.. It has a lot of parking and and long grassed streach of shoreline. The lake is a mid sized lake and one can swim and fish for bottom feeders. That said, it is a very shallow lake and was once very polluted. A flushing canal to the Columbia River was made and the county has been cleaning up their act on the stream that feeds into it. It is off by itself with no stores or the like, so come with what you need. So what I'm saying is it's a nice park for locals but it isn't a destination park for tourists
