I had to see the Husky Clipper!!!

After reading the book, "The Boys in the Boat" I had to see the actual boat in which the University of Washington Crew won the gold medal at the 1936 Olympics. The boat is securely fastened to the ceiling of the crew's dining room, but is totally visible. I now have my own photo collection of the Husky Clipper to go along with the book which I would strongly urge a person to read before visiting the campus and the boat. Tours are available, but advance tickets must be ordered on line.

    A beautiful campus!
We visited the University of Washington with friends after being referred here by a local tour guide. It is an easy trip via the light rail from downtown Seattle. The light rail stops right down the street from the university. There are walking paths throughout the campus. The architecture of the buildings is beautiful and the grounds are well kept with lots of gardens. There was one area where the students were sitting on the lawn drawing pictures for an art class and also a walking tour going on for new students that gave a lot of information about the campus. There were students standing around giving information to visitors about where the various buildings were located. We enjoyed our visit.

Beautiful campus but it is in the city
Both our sons attended University of Washington. It is a beautiful campus, especially during the cherry blossom season, when hundreds of people (visitors and families of students) come to the campus to take pictures. The buildings on campus consist of both older architectural design and more modern ones. The "Harry Potter" library is a must visit.
