Hidden gem! Worth the stop.

What an amazing find! My boyfriend and I were driving back to Vancouver from a trip to Seattle and stumbled upon this place looking for a nice place to enjoy our takeout. It was that and so much more. Around every corner was another beautiful little place to enjoy, from the well- tended fragrance garden (lives up to its name), to the observation tower with great views of the grounds, to the platform walk through the marsh, and little raised bridges with views of the blooming water lilies... wow. Right off the highway but amazing peaceful. An ideal place for a little escape/ picnic.

    Lovely opportunity for photographers
My husband and I spent most of our time in the Fragrance Garden. He is a semi-professional photographer and loves to shoot wildlife. There were lots of hummingbirds and butterflies to photograph as well as insects for close up shots. I spent my time looking at all the beautiful blooms on the flowers and smelling all the wonderful scents of the plants. The garden was originally set up as a garden for the blind so that they could touch the plants and smell them. Most of them are herbs and are labelled in both print and braille. As a teacher of the blind myself, I found this garden to be a wonderful place and if I lived in the US I would want to bring my blind students to this garden for a field trip. There was also a lovely boardwalk through the marsh that unfortunately was not accessible to people in wheelchairs due to the narrowness of the path and some of the sharp angles of the path. Though this visit was just my husband and I it would be suitable for families with young children and families with teens as well.

Our kids used to go there for field trips with their schools!
it is a nice and cozy place to bring children! They get to look at all the insects and a lake and stuff like that! It has been a long time since we were there, but it was fun.
