Good Spring/Early Summer Hike

A great workout close to town. This trail is 5.4 miles and approx a 1600 foot elevation gain. The trail can be popular, so I arrived at 9:40AM and the parking lot was half full. The trail is snow free starting the middle to end of March. The trail is well maintained. As soon as the trail turns and go from walking side by side to single file, it gets rocky, so make sure you have sturdy shoes (don't recommend regular tennis shoes or teva type sandals). The last mile gains about 850 feet and will give your thighs a nice workout. The top gets pretty crowded and there isn't a lot of space up there. There are a few places to sit and eat out of everyone's way and some people sat in the sun on the rocks with the mountain view. The mosquito are just coming out, so you may want to bring bug spray. Just a few here and there. There isn't water on the trail, so bring some for your dog. Check out the WTA site for more info. And don't forget your Discover Pass for parking.

Good waterfall hike for a hot day
This is a 3 mile hike after which there's a tall waterfall. For the most part, the trail is in the forest which is cool and pleasant hiking on a sunny day. The initial section is quite easy to hike on the well-maintained gravel dirt path. As you go along, it becomes steeper and rockier and it may be difficult for some people. On the Mount Si Road there is now a new Teneriffe Peak parking lot which also takes you to Teneriffe falls. There is a toilet at the parking lot but no water available. The trail is in good condition and it's a 3 mile hike with some steep switchbacks towards the end. The waterfalls are scenic but there's not a lot of room so if it's a busy hiking day it will be crowded there.

    Trail to a beautiful waterfall.
A nice hike to a beautiful waterfall. 6 miles round trip with some good valley views on the way up. Keep an eye out for mountain goats on the open cliffs as you hike.
