Second Beach Trail, Washington, United States

Don't miss it!

This is an amazing little forest, don't miss it. The location in the rain forest next to the beach, the number of trees with burls of varying sizes makes it look like an enchanted forest from the movies. The trail is right next to highway 101, and is a flat, easy walk. It can be a bit difficult to find due to lack of signage. It is located just south of the Kalaloch ranger station. Look for a sign for Beach 1, the trail is right next to it. There was no sign for the beach going north on 101, but we saw the sign going south on 101 after we turned around at Kalaloch. Well worth the stop.

Wonderful, easy hike to amazing secluded beach!
Second beach was our favorite! We went twice in two days. We visited the other beaches in the area also. Second Beach trail is about .7 miles with some incline. The trail is very well maintained and easy to climb. It is a lovely walk through the forest and ends at a driftwood barrier. You will have to climb over the driftwood to get to the beach. We went at high tide and low tide. Do not miss low tide at Second Beach. Walk out to the large island, near the larger cave area and see the tide pools full of life! This was a highlight of our trip! You can camp on this beach and it is quite large with big sandy areas as well as huge rocky areas. The water is cold but the weather here was less windy than other beaches we visited.
