Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Memorial Plaza, Washington, United States

NICE MEMORIAL PLAZA

A large nicely laid out memorial to the workers of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. A major focus of the park are the large rock formations, sculpted by Will Robinson. At the upper end of the memorial on the corner of Burwell and Pacific there is the dedication plaque affixed to a large stone with the date May 16, 2009. Located in this upper area is the center piece statue of rivet worker Esther Bielmeier based entirely upon a photograph from 1919. Throughout the plaza are tables and chairs and steps on which to sit. A very nicely done plaza. But like Harborside Fountains this fountain was dry and not operating.

    Time to relax!
Walking around and it's right by the Ferry terminal! Walk down numerous steps and it's there. If weather is good it's a nice place to have a picnic lunch or just bring a book along to read. Very nice area and sculptures and views very nice too. Enjoyed looking at everything here and you can walk around up a sidewalk and close to the Naval Museum!

It you like ships and propellers then this is for you!
This is a local tribute to the hard working men and women of the Naval Shipyard. As this is the main employer in this town it makes a lot of sense to honor them.
