Very organized but buy tickets before travel.

We had no idea what we were doing. When we went to check it out, there were no more openings for the day. We went back to our room & bought a ticket for the next day. When we returned, I found out that our ticket was one way & that we needed to quickly get a return ticket back. One of the staff took me on to their computer & showed me what was available. Whew! So make sure you have a return ticket when you go. We just wanted a day trip so it all worked out fine.. It was great just to drive on the ferry, stay in the truck with our dog & enjoy a wonderful day. There are so many state parks to enjoy. It was a wonderful day! We are so glad we did it!

Our First TIme Using the Ferry System
Our road trip included taking several ferries and I was a bit anxious about the fact that the first day included 2 different ferries and the need to ensure there were not delays. I shouldn't have worried. We used the ferry system on 3 different days and it was the most professionally run system I have ever encountered. The airlines could learn something from these folks. Staff was friendly and professional - ferry was right on time. The trip over to Coupeville, while short, was very enjoyable. It was an easy on and easy off - even for newbies. After we got in line, we left the car and visited the dock which was a great place for pictures. The most stressful part of the entire process was making the reservations and it wasn't as hard as I expected. All in all - a great transportation system

Enjoyable 30 minute ride between Port Townsend and Whidbey Island.
There is not a lot to say about taking a ferry ride from point A to point B. The ferry was on time, clean, and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the facilities, including the restrooms, were clean. There is a small store selling food onboard and an abundance of clean tables and seating. Overall this is an enjoyable and low stress way to travel and I would highly recommend it. Whidbey Island is a beautiful place to enjoy nature with many parks and hiking trails. There are wineries, museums, and many shops to explore. All in all a fun way to spend a day.
